INGREDIENTS:

  • Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid): Vitamin C or ascorbic acid uses many ways to help the body overcome viruses. At a high enough concentration in the blood, Vitamin C will directly inactivate viruses. During a viral infection, the body's supplies of Vitamin C are rapidly depleted as the immune system's white blood cells absorb and quickly use up all the Vitamin C available. The immune system actually uses Vitamin C to make an important antioxidant inside the cells called glutathione. It also increases the body's production of its own antiviral medicine called interferon. Vitamin C also has its own anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and antihistamine-like effects. It therefore powerfully improves symptoms like pain, swelling, weakness, rash and fever.
  • Vitamin D (as cholecalciferol): Low levels of Vitamin D are linked to a host of physical and mental problems, while optimal levels protect against chronic disease and infection. Vitamin D upregulates your ability to fight infections, as well as chronic inflammation, and produces antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), one of which is cathelicidin, a naturally occurring broad-spectrum antibiotic. The cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide, or CAMP, is made by immune cells and skin and gut cells, which act as a barrier to infection. In general, AMPs are used by your body's innate immune response to kill invading pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, fungi and other pathogens.
  • Zinc (as L-monomethionine): Zinc affects multiple aspects of your immune system, including neutrophils, natural killer cells, phagocytosis, cytokine production, antibody production, and even gene regulation within your lymphocytes. Zinc is involved in many basic cellular functions including DNA replication, RNA transcription, cell division and activation, and stabilization of cell membranes. Some studies show that zinc may reduce the duration of your cold by 50 percent. Zinc is the hallmark molecule for thymic proteins, which are immune substances made by your thymus gland. Without zinc, you lack this immune defense. Zinc salts are deadly to many pathogens. Viral gastroenteritis is slowed down by the ingestion of zinc due to direct antimicrobial action of the zinc ions in your gastrointestinal tract.
  • Licorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra): Licorice rootis a multifaceted antiviral herb that is used for a variety of viruses, including hepatitisherpes, pneumonia and the common rhino virus (colds). Licorice can be taken internally for viral infections and used externally on viral sores such as herpes lesions. Besides inhibiting viral replication, licorice also can stimulate the immune system response to more effectively kill viruses. When using licorice for its antiviral properties the whole licorice root must be used, not deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL licorice). Licorice root is also mildly antibacterial. It has been shown to be effective against helicobacter pylori and various bacteria commonly found in the mouth.
  • Red Algae Extract (Gigartina skottsbergii): Heparin-like sulfated polysaccharides from red algae, or fractions thereof, might be found to be low-cost, broad-spectrum antiviral agents. The prevailing view among virologists has been that sulfated polysaccharides inhibit viral action by acting only at the surfaces of cells. This perception now is changing with the finding that both the herpes virus (containing DNA) and human immunodeficiency virus (containing RNA) are inhibited by sulfated polysaccharides that act within the cell as well as external to it. Aqueous extracts of many red algae are active against retroviruses. Carrageenan, a common cell wall polysaccharide from red algae, is co-internalized into infected cells with the Herpes simplexvirus (HSV), inhibiting the virus. Carrageenan also interferes with fusion (syncytium formation) between cells infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and inhibits the specific retroviral enzyme reverse transcriptase.
  • Garlic Root Extract (Allium sativum): Allium Sativum  (garlic), which is a species of the onion family, Alliaceae, is one of the most used plants in traditional medicine worldwide. More than 200 chemicals with diverse properties have been found in garlic extracts. Several garlic compounds were suggested to be efficient in improving various pathologies including certain types of cancer. Garlic was found to be able to maintain the immune system homeostasis and to exhibit beneficial effects on immune cells especially through regulation of proliferation and cytokine gene expression.
  • Turmeric Root Extract (Curcuma longa): Turmeric Root (Zingiberaceae family) and its polyphenolic compound curcumin have been subjected to a variety of antimicrobial investigations due to extensive traditional uses and low side effects. Antimicrobial activities for curcumin and rhizome extract of  longaagainst different bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites have been reported. The promising results for antimicrobial activity of curcumin made it a good candidate to enhance the inhibitory effect of existing antimicrobial agents through synergism.
  • Black Cumin Seed Extract (Nigella sativa): Black Cumin Seed ( sativa) has been used in different civilizations around the world for centuries to treat various animal and human ailments. So far, numerous studies demonstrated the seed of Nigella sativa and its main active constituent, thymoquinone, to be medicinally very effective against various illnesses including different chronic illness: neurological and mental illness, cardiovascular disorders, cancer, diabetes, inflammatory conditions, and infertility as well as various infectious diseases due to bacterial, fungal, parasitic, and viral infections.
  • Olive Leaf Extract (Olea europaea): Long used in traditional medicine, olive leaf extract comes from the leaves of the olive tree (Olea europaea) and has a variety of health benefits. Research showsoleuropein, the main component in olive leaf extract, has antioxidant, antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immune-stimulating properties’ Oleuropein in studies has shown to penetrate into host cells and block viral replication. It interferes with the virus' production of the proteins it needs (interference with the virus' hijacking of your cell function). It has shown to stop a retrovirus's production of protease and reverse transcriptase - enzymes a retrovirus such as HIV uses to alter the RNA of a healthy cell.
  • Oregano Oil (Origanum Vulgare): Oregano oil is high in phenols, which are natural phytochemical compounds with beneficial antioxidant effects. The two most abundant phenols in it are Thymol and Carvacrol. Thymol is a natural fungicide with antiseptic properties. It helps boost your immune system, works as a shield against toxins, and even helps prevent tissue damage and encourages healing. Carvacrol has antiviral, antimicrobial, antitumor, antimutagenic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic properties, making it one of the most active components of oregano oil.
