INGREDIENTS:

Vitamin C (as mineral ascorbate):  Studies have shown that vitamin C has the ability to increase progesterone in both women with low progesterone and those with luteal phase defects. It also reduces prolactin which hinders ovulation and therefore for progesterone production and finally it increases dopamine levels (our feel good hormone).

Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxal 5'-phosphate):   Vitamin B6 is another important water-soluble vitamin to help promote the reproductive system. B6 is a powerful vitamin for cognitive development, gluconeogenesis, lipid metabolism, and protein metabolism. A study found that supplementation of B6 increased progesterone levels and decreased estrogen levels. This is why vitamin B6 is one of the supplements to increase progesterone.

Vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin):  Vitamin B12 is one of the most common deficiencies in America with about 50% of the population being deficient. Similar to B6, B12 has many functions in numerous metabolic reactions in the body. B12 can also regulate hormone levels and internal stress response. B12 influences the clearance of homocysteine in the blood. Homocysteine is an amino acid produced when proteins are broken down, but at elevated levels, it is called hyperhomocysteinemia which is damaging. These high levels are not good for the body because it can degrade the arterial lining and increase stress levels. Increased stress levels have a negative effect on hormone balance including progesterone. Due to this, vitamin B12 is another one of the supplements to increase progesterone.

Magnesium (as magnesium citrate):  Magnesium is another one of the supplements to increase progesterone naturally. Magnesium is a mineral that helps with muscle protein synthesis, nerve functioning, and it’s a cofactor for many enzymatic reactions. A study found an inverse relationship between magnesium and estrogen, showing that magnesium levels increased and estrogen decreased. We know that estrogen and progesterone work in opposition so when estrogen levels are low this means that there will be an increase in progesterone naturally.

Zinc (as zinc L-methionine):  Zinc has an impact on a number of different areas of your body which are essential in the production of progesterone, including the ovaries and your pituitary gland. Zinc increases the production of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) which in turn causes ovulation and leads to the production of progesterone.

L-Arginine:  L-Arginine is an amino acid found in high concentrations in protein foods and is important in the production of nitric acid which aids blood circulation. Increased circulation makes sure that your corpus luteum (which produces progesterone following ovulation) and your ovaries can work effectively.

Licorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra): Licorice lowers estrogen levels and raises progesterone levels through its action as an enzyme inhibitor. ... It can also support PMS symptoms in other ways through it's binding with aldosterone receptors and reducing the hormone's impact.

Maca Root Extract (Lepidium meyenii):  Maca Root may be the ultimate natural Hormone Replacement Therapy. Unlike some herbs and phytoestrogens such as soy, Maca does not try to mimic estrogen in your body. Yet it can actually increase the body’s production of estrogen if your levels are too low. Maca in perimenopausal and menopausal women has been linked to an increase in hormones, including progesterone and luteinizing hormone (which stimulates ovary function). Maca also stimulated estradiol and suppressed the production of chemicals like the stress hormone, cortisol. Maca has also been shown to play a role in the reduction of hot flashes, night sweats, depression, insomnia, nervousness and anxiety, as well as improved concentration.

Rhodiola Root Extract (Rhodiola rosea):  Rhodiola Root is an herb that grows at high altitudes in the Arctic mountains, so it is relatively rare to find naturally, but it is useful as a natural medicinal remedy. Rhodiola is an adaptogenic herb that can indirectly help to increase progesterone by managing the stress response. Stress can reduce progesterone levels due to cortisol release. When cortisol is released our body suppresses ovulation as a protective mechanism (it does not deem it safe to bring a child into the world right now), so as a response, we decrease progesterone secretion. Rhodiola helps supporting the stress response, which explains why it can be an herb to increase progesterone. herb grows at high altitudes in the arctic mountains, so it is relatively rare to find naturally, but it is useful as a natural medicinal remedy. Chasteberry Fruit Extract (Vitex agnus-castus):  Chasteberry Fruit Extract is an herb that has been used in traditional medicine, most particularly for women’s health and menstrual issues. Other names include vitex, chaste tree berry, and vitex agnus-castus. It comes from a shrub-like tree native to the Mediterranean and Centra Asia. Chasteberry, is used to treat a variety of different conditions, such as PMS, infertility, acne, and more. It is an ideal herb to balance female hormones. It works by decreasing levels of prolactin, which in return balances out estrogen and progesterone. Due to the effect chasteberry has on the pituitary gland, increasing the release of luteinizing hormone (LH), this promotes ovulation and raising progesterone levels.

Ashwagandha Root Extract (Withania somnifera):  Ashwagandha Root is Primarily found in the middle east and is scientifically proven to have many health benefits including properties such as anti-inflammatory, neuro-protective, adaptogenic, memory-enhancing, hematopoietic, and sleep-inducing. Additionally, studies have shown the beneficial effects it has on stress levels. Ashwagandha can decrease the stress response in the body. This is the mechanism for why Ashwagandha is great to increase progesterone because it decreases cortisol secretion.

Schisandra Fruit Extract (Schisandra chinensis):  Schisandra Fruit Extract has a long history of being used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The fruit of this plant has been studied to have many health benefits and has properties such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, supports detoxification, supports the immune system, antiviral, and anti-cancer activities. Due to Schisandras antioxidant properties, it can be used to decrease stress levels. As mentioned, the decrease in stress can indirectly help to increase progesterone. This is why Schisandra is one of the best herbs to increase progesterone.
